Bring lunch but hopefully we will find some hot soup along the way.

Rye Harbour leisurely ride

Meet at Winchelsea Station at 10 am for a leisurely ride, 15 miles, to Rye for coffee and maybe cake too. We will be cycling through Rye Harbour Nature Reserve on a traffic free section of NCN 2. If you don’t usually ride in the winter this is a good one to experience the thrill of a crisp morning on your bike with hardly anybody about. Don’t worry, we won’t be riding if temperatures are very low. If you have any queries including what to wear, do get in touch with the ride leader (see below)

Autumnal ride from Northiam (rescheduled)

We will be in the Northiam & Brede area, cycling on nice autumnal lanes.

The meeting point is the car park on the Main Street (A28) near to St Marys Church, and Church Lane / Fullers Lane

I estimate that we will be back between 2 and 3pm, pub lunch or bring sandwiches, but please bring snacks, very relaxed ride.

This ride has been rescheduled (it was 13th Nov). People that have contacted Penny already have already been notified

Alexandra Park opening ride

A steady ride from Battle using mostly lanes and a few tracks to Alexandra Park cafe for a combined coffee/lunch stop. We then join the park ride (see below) at 2pm before returning a slightly shorter way back to Battle.  Please wear high vis and have front and back lights as it will be getting dusk before we reach Battle.

Approx 22 miles in total. Our return journey will leave Hastings by 3pm at the latest
Note, there is only a bus service between Battle and Hastings (no trains)

Ashburnham combination ride

We’re doing another ‘combination ride’ where we combine a Level1 and a Level2 ride on the same day. When booking in please let Denise know which one you are doing.

The Level 1 ride* starts 10:30am at Ashburnham place (meet in the rear car park)
A morning ride and a chance for Level-1 riders to try out a few hills at a gentle pace! We meet at Ashburnham, meander through the lanes to Bodle Street, on through Gingers Cross and cross over the A269 to do a short loop through Golden Cross, Flowers Green, and then cross back over the A269 for coffee at Lime Cross Garden Centre. From there it’s a few miles back to Ashburnham. Approx 15 miles total, finishing early afternoon. Take snacks.

*note – if there are no “Level-1” riders out then this will turn into a level 2a and we’ll have coffee either at Limecross if people want to stop mid-way, or at Ashburnham on the return. Please be prepared for a bit of flexibility

The Level 2a ride
starts 9:30am at Battle Abbey Green, we will cycle to Ashburnham to meet with the other group and do the main Level 1 route as described above. This makes 25 miles in total, and will finish early in the afternoon back at Battle

Art In Romney Marsh

A relaxed day visiting the various churches in Romney Marsh area, where small art installations are in place. We’ve done this once or twice in the past and it’s a pleasant experience!

A generally flat ride, although the marshes are quite exposed to the elements and it can be very windy so please be prepared clothes-wise. We will stop for coffee/cake/snack somewhere.

This will be a “Level 2a” ride, to fit in with our recently-introduced grading system. Approximately 20 miles in total.
Finish time is uncertain, it depends on how long we stop at the churches, cafe, etc

Chris in Battle is driving to/from Appledore station and has offered to take 3 people and their bikes, contact him on 07725914325 if you’d like a lift with him. The suggested donation for fuel (at 10p per mile) is £4.30
