Rye to Bodiam Countryside Tour
Sat 11th May , 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
A beautiful spring tour of the Kent and Sussex countryside.
Morning Coffee: This can be taken at the “Café des Fleurs”, housed in the station building. Highly recommended. I shall be there soon after 10:00.
Leaving Rye at 11:00, our route will be – Iden – Rye Foreign – Beckley – Ewhurst Green – Bodiam Castle – Sandhurst – Great Job’s Cross – Rolvenden Layne – Potman’s Heath – Wittersham – Iden – Rye. It is graded 2b because of its undulations and distance. There are no big hills and it will be ridden at a moderate pace.
After 15 miles at approx. 12:30, we will stop at The Hub café, Bodiam for lunch. This serves lovely food and has vegetarian, gluten and dairy free choices. It occupies a very quiet rural location within earshot of the steam trains, and has both indoor and outdoor seating. Eating your own picnic lunch is unlikely to be a problem. Water bottles will be re-filled free of charge.
Train: Cooden Beach Bexhill Hastings Rye 09:08 09:15 09:26 09:45 10:08 10:15 10:26 10:45
At Rye station, there is no need to carry your bike over the footbridge. When you alight from your carriage, turn right along the platform, follow the footpath to the rail/road crossing and turn right again through the station car park to the front of the station building, where we will all meet.
Rye Station – £2.90 all day (limited space)
