Battle and Eastbourne day out
Sun 4th February , 10:00 am - 3:30 pm
We will leave Battle Abbey Green at 10:30. If you would like to have coffee beforehand I will be at Mrs Burton’s Tea Room on Battle Abbey Green from 10am. We will be heading west to Eastbourne via Ninfield. There will be a pick up at The Red Lion pub at Hooe at 11:15. Then we will do our biggest hill of the day, Horsewalk (do you think a horse would find it easy?!), Then the route gets a bit flatter through beautiful Pevensey levels on NCN2.Then we will meet NCN21and go through the suburbs of Eastbourne to Hampden Park. There, not only is there a good cafe, but the local example of a “Pump Track” something we are working towards in Battle. After a cafe stop, we will be heading towards Westham, another area of Pevensey levels, wave to the sea and Bexhill. Loo and bananas stop at Cooden Beach. Then on to Battle, via Little Common. The route is varied with lots of off-road sections some tarmac, other partially surfaced tracks plus plenty of undulating country lanes. Back by 3.30 – 4pm. 41 miles in total
Although the ride is graded 2a we will be need to keep to a steady pace to be back before dark
