Brede Giants revisited. Two pickup points
Sat 5th May , 9:45 am - 3:30 pm
We visited the Brede Steam Giants a few years ago, and it’s time to go back again. The main attraction is 2 giant beam engines which used to pump water from the the Brede valley over the ridge and down into Hastings. Lots of other shiney things to point at too.
Meet outside the Wheatsheaf in Little Common ready to leave at 9.45 (park in the streets adjacent to the pub, loos available), cycle via Catsfield to pick up in Battle on the Abbey Green at 10.45, on route to Brede via Sedlescombe and some lovely, (hilly) lanes.
I’ve thought long and hard about the grading and have decided to grade it as a Level-2a ride because some of us may need to walk up the steeper hills. It’s not suitable for those progressing from Level-1 though, as there are a fair few hills!
At Brede Waterworks we can get refreshments and a tour of the interesting exhibits and machines before returning to Battle at around 14.30 and Little Common 15.30.
Total mileage from Little Common around 32 miles, and around 16 miles from Battle.
